PUCKER UP
© RYAN GUILEY
Sensational is the way she walks,
Every breath and the way she talks,
All the men watch and just gawk,
Unpinning her claw clip from her locks.
The smell of shampoo and her clean hair,
Lip gloss applied, as she says come here my dear,
Saying “Pucker up”, as I went closer and near,
Denise’s hot lips and eyes made me stare.
Our hearts pounding so rapidly and hard,
Kissing on the front porch of my yard,
The next morning, giving her a rose with a card,
Holding hands driving down Jefferson Boulevard.
A promise ring was all I could afford,
As I was a gentleman opening her car door,
My heart pumping with her dress which was flared,
Kissing, while her barrettes fell out, messing her hair.
Still in love to this day, recalling her smile,
Picking out bootcut blue jeans in a pile,
Jumping in her jeep, turning on the radio dial.
Our song blaring loud, driving the highway miles.
Sensational we took pictures in the parks,
As the night came too quickly becoming dark,
On the picnic table carving our initials in the bark,
We have a distinction being each other’s landmarks.
The engagement ring shines with white gold,
As one day, I will again be certainly told,
That you don’t need lip gloss, as I will hold,
As you will pucker up having me already sold.
