ANOTHER DAY
Copyright 2018 RYAN GUILEY
Waking up, the alarm just rings,
A new day, on this first day of spring,
While the coffee drips into the mug,
Another day without giving you a hug.
Rushing to beat the morning traffic,
With the tunes of hard rock classics,
Imagining you in the seat next to me,
Driving and holding hands going sixty.
Our destination is outside a small town,
Looking at the boutiques for a gown,
Going through the clothes racks,
Finding the perfect dress all intact.
I found the nicest dress with glamour,
But your not here, or even around here,
So I keep that memory for another day,
I get back into the car driving on the highway.
Getting off the next exit, is a lovely park,
Children are on the swings as it’s getting dark,
One child needs a push to start swinging,
So I offer, as their smiles are bright and singing.
I imagine they are our three of gift of wonders,
It’s starts to pour rain and starts to thunder,
They jump on their bicycles and head home,
As I am alone, starting the car, ready to roam.
I feel your presence so close holding my hand,
With your brown eyes, as a single hair strand,
Is in the way, as you brush it behind you ear,
The image vanishes quickly, as I wipe my tears.
